personal meanderings as I quilt, paint, hook and stitch.

I've finally finished my first sketchbook challenge entry, Highly Prized. Anyone not taking part should consider checking it out. I'm hoping it will help me fight procrastination, my self professed curse!
My entry started as a pencil sketch of a daguerreotype of my Great-Great Grandmother. I received the picture this year as a gift. Imagine my delight, I had no idea a picture existed. It probably is her wedding photo. She looks cautious and young. I see in her face my father's bone structure and that of my second son. I know she was a loving mother and brave as family stories have her losing her life trying to save children on the ice in springtime. Highly prized indeed-Family.
